Meet Owly, our Codex pet.
A forest-green baby owl with a mint face, teal wings and a stitched branching-tree heart. Our little companion for your next big idea, one click away in the Codex desktop app.
Bring Owly to Codex.
The button opens a new Codex task with the install prompt filled in. Press Send and Codex downloads the two files, checks them and sets Owly as your pet.
What the install does.
Owly is a JSON manifest and a sprite sheet. There is no installer and nothing to run. Codex downloads
pet.json and spritesheet.webp, checks that both are what they claim to be, and places
them together in pets/sparkletree-owly inside your Codex home (CODEX_HOME, or
~/.codex by default). Your other pets and settings stay as they are.
Codex asks for its usual file and network permissions along the way. If it cannot switch pets for you, it tells
you the last step: open Settings, then Pets, select Owly and turn on Show pet. The /pet command
shows or hides the floating pet.
Agents and the curious can read the full steps in install.md. Pet controls vary between Codex versions; see the official pet documentation.
Owly and SparkleTree.
Owly is just for fun. The useful part: if you work in Codex, SparkleTree works there too. The SparkleTree MCP server lets Codex brief a campaign, generate variants, publish them and read the numbers, and it comes with every plan. Owly keeps you company while it runs.
